If you haven’t noticed by now, artificial intelligence has been changing the way we do things – including how we browse the internet.
Microsoft released its new Bing AI Chatbot in February this year, which combines the power of AI Chatbot technology with Microsoft’s Bing search engine, creating a more personalized and innovative browsing experience.
I’ve been playing around with this chatbot for some time now and I’m eager to show you how it works.
From browsing the web and quickly finding cheap flights for your vacation, to creating stunning images, this post will take a close look at what Bing Chat is, how to access it, and provide you with tips on how to use it to enhance your online experience.
What Is Bing Chat?
Bing Chat is a conversational AI chatbot that uses the powerful language processing capabilities of OpenAI’s GPT- 4 model.
Microsoft’s Bing is now an AI-powered search engine, along with its traditional web search, and has Bing Chat as a copilot feature.
The new Bing Chat is like a conversational bridge between you and Microsoft’s Bing search engine, providing complete answers, suggestions, and real-time content generation.
Top Advantages when using Bing Chat.
- You can easily access information without having to switch to any tabs.
- Bing Chat can supercharge your productivity by automating search, generating content, and organizing information.
- It works with the live internet, so you’ll always have up-to-date information as well as citation sources.
- You can get creative responses from Bing Chat by changing conversational styles and languages (which I’ll go into more detail).
- Bing Chat can provide interactive tutorials and quizzes to assist you in learning new skills or subjects.
How to access Bing Chat
To access Bing Chat, you can go about it a few different ways but I’ll show you 2 simple ways:
Access through Microsoft Edge:
1. Simply open a new tab in any internet browser and go to https://www.bing.com/new. Once there, hit the “Chat Now” button.
Note: You’ll have to download Microsoft Edge in order to gain access to “The New Bing”.
2. Once you’ve downloaded Microsoft Edge for your chosen device, head over to the Microsoft Edge web browser and click on the Bing Chat Icon at the top right corner of the screen.
Note: When you click the Bing Chat icon it will ask you to sign in to your Microsoft account. If you don’t have an account then you’ll have to create one.
3. After you’ve signed into your Mircosoft account then your good to go!
Access through Chrome:
1. Open a new tab in any browser and go into the Chrome Web Store then type in “Bing Chat for All browsers”. Then Click “Add to Chrome”.
You’ll have to sign in to your Microsoft account or create a new one.
Note: You don’t have to download Microsoft Edge to use Bing Chat on Chrome or Firefox.
How to use Bing Chat
Once you’re on the Bing chatbot page, you’ll quickly notice that there are three conversation-style options you can choose from:
- Creative – This mode lets you get in touch with your creative side with Bing Chat, which will be more playful, fun, and adventurous. It can even generate images.
- Balanced – This is a more balanced and engaging conversation style with Bing Chat. It’ll give you informative and casual responses as well as suggestions.
- Precise – This style allows more precise and accurate outputs from Bing Chat. It’ll provide factual and intelligent answers and can perform complex calculations.
You can erase any conversation by simply hitting the broom icon on the bottom left where it says “New Topic”.
Examples of queries and prompts.
To help give you some better context and ideas, I’ll show you some examples of what the Bing AI chatbot can do.
Simply ask any question that you have in a conversation way and it will provide you with the answer as well as relevant links.
For example, I asked the Bing AI chatbot if it can recommend a good pizza shop in New York using the balanced mode style.
Not only does it generate the answers for you but it also provides relevant links and sources.
You can ask Bing Chat to generate content for you, such as poems, stories, article outlines, essays, songs, and more.
Bing will use its creativity and knowledge to create content for you.
In this example, I used the creative mode style and asked it to come up with an intro paragraph for a blog post.
You’ll also notice underneath the output that it gave me that there are other suggested prompts that it provides such as “That’s great, thank you.”, “Can you write the rest of the blog post?”, or “Can you improve the introduction paragraph?”.
You can also use Bing AI chat to translate text into a different language.
In this example, I asked it to translate the above blog post intro paragraph into Spanish.
It’ll give you the relevant resources so you can also check the quality of the translation just to be sure.
You can ask it to summarize large text for you and it will give you a more concise summary, extracting all of the main points.
Here’s an example:
Using the precise mode style, I asked it to summarize an article about the “ketogenic Diet” simply by copying and pasting the URL from the blog article.
It was able to summarize an entire blog post and it only took a few seconds.
How to use Bing Image Creator
Bing AI chat can generate mind-blowing images on command, which is one of my favorite features of this tool.
The images are powered by DALL-E, an AI image generator developed by OpenAI.
To use this feature, all you have to do is switch to “More Creative” mode and then simply tell it to create any image that you have in mind.
In this example, I told it to “Create an image of a banana split using Hyperrealism” and it generated 4 high-quality images within just a few seconds.
You can also select each image and share, save, download, or leave any feedback about the image.
Best practices for using the Bing Image Creator:
Be specific: The more specific you are with your prompts, the better the output will be.
For example, instead of saying “Create a picture of a boat”, you can say “Create a picture of a 20-foot sailboat with a blue and white color scheme, equipped with a kitchenette and sleeping quarters for two people.”
Get creative: Not only can the image generator create images that are specific but also imaginative.
Try using descriptive words that tell a story or evoke emotions.
Example prompt: “Create a cozy cabin in the woods surrounded by vibrant autumn leaves and a warm fire burning inside, evoking feelings of comfort and nostalgia.”
Be respectful: The image creator is powerful, but ultimately you’re the one behind the prompts.
This means that you should use it responsibly and avoid generating anything offensive.
Using Bing Chat on Mobile
You can download the Bing App by simply going to the app store and typing in “Bing”.
What’s different about the mobile app version is that it has a microphone icon on the bottom right corner within the search bar so you can switch to voice commands.

Is Bing Chat the same as ChatGPT?
They’re not the same.
Bing Chat is a chatbot feature that uses Microsoft technology within Bing search while ChatGPT is a project created by OpenAI that relies on the GPT-3 model.
Although both are chatbots, they have different features and roles.
(For tips on ChatGPT, check out my other post on how to use ChatGPT for your business.)
There are a lot of technological shifts happening and I want to make sure that you’re aware so you don’t miss out.
Because leveraging tools like Bing Chat can really shape the way you use the internet.
That’s why I covered what Bing AI is and how you can access it and use it to your advantage.
It will be interesting to see what else plays out this year and beyond, especially with Google and other companies trying to compete in the AI race.
The future is here my friend.
Don’t be afraid of these new AI technologies but instead embrace them.
Thanks for reading and good luck!
