How to use bing chat: elevate your online experience in 2024

If you haven't noticed by now, artificial intelligence has been changing the way we do things - including how we browse the internet.

Microsoft released its new Bing AI Chatbot in February this year, which combines the power of AI Chatbot technology with Microsoft's Bing search engine, creating a more personalized and innovative browsing experience.

I've been playing around with this chatbot for some time now and I'm eager to show you how it works.

From browsing the web and quickly finding cheap flights for your vacation, to creating stunning images, this post will take a close look at what Bing Chat is, how to access it, and provide you with tips on how to use it to enhance your online experience.

What Is Bing Chat?

Bing Chat is a conversational AI chatbot that uses the powerful language processing capabilities of OpenAI's GPT- 4 model.

Microsoft's Bing is now an AI-powered search engine, along with its traditional web search, and has Bing Chat as a copilot feature.

The new Bing Chat is like a conversational bridge between you and Microsoft's Bing search engine, providing complete answers, suggestions, and real-time content generation.

Top Advantages when using Bing Chat.

You can erase any conversation by simply hitting the broom icon on the bottom left where it says "New Topic".

Examples of queries and prompts.

To help give you some better context and ideas, I'll show you some examples of what the Bing AI chatbot can do.

Web Searches

Simply ask any question that you have in a conversation way and it will provide you with the answer as well as relevant links.

For example, I asked the Bing AI chatbot if it can recommend a good pizza shop in New York using the balanced mode style.

Not only does it generate the answers for you but it also provides relevant links and sources.

Content Generation

You can ask Bing Chat to generate content for you, such as poems, stories, article outlines, essays, songs, and more.

Bing will use its creativity and knowledge to create content for you.

In this example, I used the creative mode style and asked it to come up with an intro paragraph for a blog post.

You'll also notice underneath the output that it gave me that there are other suggested prompts that it provides such as "That's great, thank you.", "Can you write the rest of the blog post?", or "Can you improve the introduction paragraph?".

Translations

You can also use Bing AI chat to translate text into a different language.

In this example, I asked it to translate the above blog post intro paragraph into Spanish.

It'll give you the relevant resources so you can also check the quality of the translation just to be sure.

Summaries

You can ask it to summarize large text for you and it will give you a more concise summary, extracting all of the main points.

Here's an example:

Using the precise mode style, I asked it to summarize an article about the "ketogenic Diet" simply by copying and pasting the URL from the blog article.

It was able to summarize an entire blog post and it only took a few seconds.

How to use Bing Image Creator

Bing AI chat can generate mind-blowing images on command, which is one of my favorite features of this tool.

The images are powered by DALL-E, an AI image generator developed by OpenAI.

To use this feature, all you have to do is switch to "More Creative" mode and then simply tell it to create any image that you have in mind.

How to use Bing Chat

In this example, I told it to "Create an image of a banana split using Hyperrealism" and it generated 4 high-quality images within just a few seconds.

You can also select each image and share, save, download, or leave any feedback about the image.

Best practices for using the Bing Image Creator:

Be specific: The more specific you are with your prompts, the better the output will be.

For example, instead of saying "Create a picture of a boat", you can say "Create a picture of a 20-foot sailboat with a blue and white color scheme, equipped with a kitchenette and sleeping quarters for two people."

Get creative: Not only can the image generator create images that are specific but also imaginative.

Try using descriptive words that tell a story or evoke emotions.

Example prompt: "Create a cozy cabin in the woods surrounded by vibrant autumn leaves and a warm fire burning inside, evoking feelings of comfort and nostalgia."

Be respectful: The image creator is powerful, but ultimately you're the one behind the prompts.

This means that you should use it responsibly and avoid generating anything offensive.

Using Bing Chat on Mobile

You can download the Bing App by simply going to the app store and typing in "Bing".

What's different about the mobile app version is that it has a microphone icon on the bottom right corner within the search bar so you can switch to voice commands.
